![]() We love the unique style of Sanctuary and the lush grounds it has. Having said that Sanctuary does have two reasonably newer buildings which have modern rooms Secrets is also a newer more modern property. We have not stayed at Secrets Cap Cana but know the area very well as we have stayed at Sanctuary on multiple occasions and love itĪs you say Secrets is a little larger and has a far nicer beach, You will also have some additional dining and bar options. I'd love to hear from anyone that's been to one or both of these. The style seems a litte more unique at Sanctuary as well. I've heard that the buffet breakfast is not as big at Sanctuary as it is at Secrets so that's something to think about too as I'm not a big egg eater so choice is good. We're not big seafood eaters so more choice is always good. I like the idea of Sanctuary city adding to the dining options of Sanctuary. I do like that Secrets seems to have a bigger and better? beach than Sanctuary. ![]() We are also not excited about the smoking all over the resort as I'm sensitive to second hand smoke. We don't want this to happen again.įrom what we've read, we like that Secrets is a bit bigger than Sanctuary but we feel like only having one pool (unless preferred club) could be a downside. We're both a little concerned that Cap Cana is going to be dead in September - anybody know? We went to Negril, Jamaica in September once and almost everything was closed, it wasn't very fun. We like to scuba dive, snorkel, eat, and meet new people. We aren't people who go to bed at 9pm but we're not massive partiers either. That's not the case at all.My husband and I are in our early 40's and are deciding between these two resorts for a two week stay in September. ![]() But for those who pay for Preferred because they think it's Platinum treatment in a golden oasis. Most people pay for Preferred to have that peace and quiet. Typically, staying in the Preferred section is very expensive. The cost for me to upgrade to Preferred about $120 total for 6 days. I only wanted Preferred so I can have cushioned beach lounges. Re: Sanctuary & Secrets Cap Cana vs Excellence, 23:47 Save Secrets Cap Cana has the best beach in the area, its in a gated community, so you wont be bothered by beach vendors, they have premium alcohol and some of the best food we have had at a resort, and tipping is not expected. Full disclosure: I'm staying in the Preferred section when I return. One of the best resorts that I've stayed in. So I felt I was treated like royalty as a non-Preferred guest at Secrets Cap Cana. This basically acts the same as a butler, lol! My concierge person handled all of my requests and was fantastic! We communicated through What's App. Preferred guests have a butler, but non-Preferred have concierge. Everywhere is premium liquor at Secrets Cap Cana. It's not like Preferred guests have better access to premium liquor. There are also some rocks/pebbles on the Preferred beach, while the non-preferred beach is much smoother. The Preferred beach has cushioned beach loungers and cabanas, however it is a bit smaller than the main beach section. Most Preferred guests actually hang out at the main pool for this reason, lol. The Preferred pool area is smaller than the main pool, but it is also very quiet. Preferred guests have access to the Preferred pool, Preferred beach, Rosewater restaurant (the dedicated restaurant for Preferred guests), and Oceana for breakfast. ![]() When you are in the common areas (which is the majority of the resort), staff don't know who is Preferred or non-Preferred. There is no difference of treatment/service between non-Preferred and Preferred guests at Secrets Cap Cana. Yes, you can pay for Preferred, but it really is a waste of money at this resort. As someone who always upgrades at hotels and flies first/business class, I will tell you in all honesty that it's all VIP service at Secrets Cap Cana. Now I see that you mentioned VIP service. ![]() Nothing is high energy level except for the nightclub and possibly the theme parties, but that depends on the crowd. At night, there are a few activities going on throughout such as karaoke, theme parties, Texas hold em, movie night, musicians in the lobby/pool, etc. The non-preferred/main pool area is good for mixing and mingling, but there are some quiet spots around. Secrets Cap Cana is calm and laid back, but there is definitely some type of energy here. It's to my understanding, that Sanctuary is more of a very quiet and relaxing resort. Sanctuary is smaller, but a better beach is a short walk away. I went last year and I will be returning in a few months. I haven't been to Sanctuary Cap Cana, but I can provide some insight on Secrets Cap Cana. ![]()
